The Hotel
The main hotel building was built in the 18th Century (Grade II Listed building) and is situated on the south western edge of the New Forest. 5 miles north of the ancient harbour town of Christchurch and approximately 7 miles from Bournemouth International Airport, in the locality where it is claimed that Lewis Carroll penned ‘Alice Through The Looking Glass’.It is easy to imagine how Carroll was inspired by the beauty of this area, as you walk around the extensive hotel gardens and woods.

The hotel offers comfortable first floor accommodation in both the main Georgian building and in the more modern restaurant development. All rooms are accessed via a staircase and have a direct-dial telephone, trouser press, colour television, radio, coffee/tea making facilities and an en-suite bath/shower room.

2007 Tariff

Pets are welcome at the East Close Country Hotel but not in the dining areas. Due to the number of deer on the grounds, we strongly recommend that dogs are treated with Frontline® (or similar) before coming down to The Forest. A small premium will be charged and owners must be responsible for their animal at all times.

The New Forest covers over 90,000 acres of natural beauty and is in the process of being designated a National Park, famed for its varied landscape and free roaming animals. A herd of Red Deer live close by and are regularly seen on the lawns at the rear of the hotel.
